I have family in Arizona so I’ve been going to the same places there since I was younger. I was actually just there a few months ago so I don’t go too crazy with activities and sight seeing. I mean you can only look at the desert so many times before it all blurs together and one rock monument looks like the other. So when I go out there I mostly spend time with family, shop and eat.
This was my first time traveling alone and it was an experience of its own. I had to do everything myself including planning which I usually share with someone else. It’s not that I’m not independent or responsible; it’s just that I’m fresh out of college and have never had to do it alone before. I had to navigate a mile in the Detroit Airport in heels (wedges) and fly out on September 11. No direct flights were available when I purchased my ticket less than a week before haha. I also had to rent a car by myself (and pay extra since I’m not 25) and navigate my way around downtown Phoenix on I-10 when they haven’t found the I-10 shooter yet. It was pretty stressful at first but it was all worth it. I survived on my own and I definitely got a lot out of the trip.
So here are a few places I go when I visit Phoenix:
In and Out- It’s fast food and the hype is all on Instagram so you have to try it at least once. There are locations all over Phoenix.
Sprinkles- Scottsdale- Those pretty pink cupcakes ATMs are an attraction themselves. The store is clean and cute and the cupcakes are very good. I’ve tried the red velvet and the milk chocolate, but they have a pumpkin one that I heard is to die for. If you can’t make it during store hours, you can try out the cupcake ATM.
Lolo’s Chicken and Waffles- Scottsdale- The name speaks for itself. They also serve Kool Aid and keep with their theme of “Eatin Good in the Hood”. This location is new, modern and in Scottsdale, so you don’t actually have to eat in the hood to experience the combination of chicken and waffles.
Here are some of the outfits I wore when I was there and I linked my favorite finds!
1. This cotton dress is exactly what you need right now for in between hot and cool weather. Its loose fitting and comfortable but still long enough (I’m 5’6) to take you into fall. I wore it with wedges but it looks great with booties and can be worn with tights. This color is flattering on absolutely everyone and it runs true to size.
2. I love this shirt, it is so soft and the relaxed fit gives it a comfortable but cute look. (This is true to size and I’m wearing a small.) At the right price too, you may want to grab a few colors.
3. I grabbed these pumps before I left for my trip. I don’t usually shop at JCPenney but these are cute, comfortable and only $20! These are on sale right now for $30 and you can use code FALLSALE at checkout to save the extra $10. Such a great price for a good pair of pumps!
