Cosmetic bag // here
I know I haven’t really posted anything about makeup so far on this blog but it’s something I will be doing once in awhile. I love finding great products and I love sharing them even more. Finding the right makeup can be a constant struggle and we all want to look our best. The place to start building a good look is with a good foundation so I’m going to start there. I have combination/oily skin and finding a foundation that gives the right coverage and doesn’t leave me looking greasy has been a struggle. After months of trial and a couple trips to Sephora and Walmart, I found a foundation that works (and actually had me buying a second bottle when it was gone).
I use Revlon Colorstay almost every day for full coverage. This works way better for me than the Make Up Forever foundation that everyone recommends. It’s also a quarter of the price. That just makes it even better in my opinion. I apply it with a damp generic beauty blender sponge, try this one here and it works beautifully. Using a mineral powder over it keeps your face matte even longer. I have this translucent MUFE powder that I still use on occasion but mineral powder absorbs some of the oil. The one I use is no longer made but try this one.
If you like a little bit more of a natural look, try Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation here. It’s medium to full coverage and has a finish that looks less like you’re wearing foundation. If you’re afraid of cake face this may be a better option. This is great for my oily skin too since it keeps my face from getting too shiny. I like using this once in a while but I prefer the Revlon one especially if I’m taking pictures. If you don’t have too many skin concerns this one is great but it definitely has less coverage and a different finish. When I use the Tarte foundation I can still see some redness through it on my face. I don’t mind looking like I’m wearing makeup, because I am. I want a foundation that covers everything and looks flawless. This foundation costs more but it will last awhile and a less shiny face is worth the price. I use a Sigma Flat Top Kabuki Brush ((here)) for applying this one. If you haven’t tried their brushes, try one. They also sell sets for eye and face. They’re reasonably priced and good quality.
If you worry about your foundation not blending and this being too much make up sitting on your skin, try a setting spray. I use Mac Fix + (here) once in awhile when I feel like I need it. It helps melt your makeup together and keeps it in place. This isn’t exactly made for oily skin , in fact it’s amazing for dry skin and refreshing your makeup. Sometimes my skin is dry and I use it more often but it lasts me forever. Just don’t over spray your face if you’re worried about oil. A bottle is pretty big and it’s great to have on hand for the days you need it. Just make sure that it’s far enough from your face when you’re spraying it. This is pretty much the cure for cake face, if there is one.
I hope this was helpful to some of you. I know how much of a pain finding the right products can be so I hope to make it easier for someone. I’ve spent a lot of time trying different things and plan on continuing with blog posts related to beauty products and more than just fashion.
Let me know what you guys think.
